Our Quick How-To Tutorial
Recording development feedback is a crucial tool for enhancing teaching and learning in schools. Our module allows you to collect and analyse data on teacher performance or create bespoke templates for feedback about any topic you choose.
You have the flexibility to create more structured feedback forms, learning walks, informal drop-ins...or anything you like!
Please note only users in the SLT can create custom templates.
Quick Steps
- Navigate to Perf Mgmt.
- Click Edit Templates from the Development Feedback panel.
- Select New Template.
- Click Create New.
Need More Detailed Help?
There are two methods of creating templates:
-
Create a brand new template from scratch. This will allow you to customise a blank template to suit your needs.
-
Create a copy of an existing template. If you want to alter a template already live in the system, you can start with a copy of it. You are then free to change the copy without affecting the original. This is the most popular option. See the Existing Templates section further down in this guide for more details.
Building a Template from Scratch
To build a new template, click Perf Mgmt and select Edit Templates from the Development Feedback panel.
Select New Template.
You will get an option to create a new template or copy an existing template. In this case, we will select New Template.
Give the template a name, select who the template is for, and give the template a description (you can leave this blank if you wish).
Your template has now been set up, and you can add content! Click here for all the information on Adding Content to a Development Feedback Template.
Please note: You can upload your current Development Feedback templates to us by clicking 'Send us your templates' within the Performance Management dashboard, and we'll do our best to set them up for you.
Creating a Copy of an Existing Template
To create a copy of an existing template, click Perf Mgmt and select Edit Templates from the Development Feedback panel.
Select New Template > Copy from Existing
Select a template from the drop-down box and click Create Copy.
When you copy a template, it will pull through all the existing content from the original template. However, you can choose to replace all of this if you need to.
The template will default to the original name, with the word 'Copy' at the end. You can rename them anytime via the Template Details panel on the right-hand side.
You can delete content from a template by clicking the options menu alongside it and selecting Remove.
For more information on adding new content, read the Adding Content to a Development Feedback Template guide.
Part of a trust? You can create trust-wide templates for use across all schools. All feedback gathered through these templates can then be accessed and analysed collectively in Observatory.
