Need More Detailed Help?
This guide is designed to help school leaders create generic targets that can be quickly added to all staff members' performance reviews, saving you the time and effort of duplicating and copying targets to multiple staff.
Please note: Only members of the SLT can create whole school targets.
To begin, click Perf Mgmt > See All Reviews
When the page loads, click Add New > Whole School Target.
A box will appear that allows you to add the core target information. You might want to keep this generic, as the reviewers can tweak each target individually when completing the review. For example, you could use letters or symbols to represent values that will later be customised for individual teachers (i.e. x% of pupils achieve y).
When adding success criteria, click +Add after each one to embed them on the target.
When you have filled in all the relevant information, click Add Target. Please remember to click this before clicking on the red X button on the top right of the whole school target box. Otherwise, your target will not be saved.
Important! Try not to edit the whole school target once it has been created. The person set as Responsible for the target must remain as the headteacher. If you edit the target and change this to someone else, then when a review is completed for that person, the target won't be copied when added to their review. Therefore any updates made to this target would appear on the whole school version rather than their own personal copy of that target.
Adding a Whole School Target onto a Performance Review
When a reviewer completes the review, they can pull the generic whole school target onto the review. This is done within the Add Targets section by clicking the Add Existing Targets button.
Once clicked, the system finds any existing target for that staff member, including your whole school targets. The reviewer needs to tick the box next to the target and click Add Selected Targets.
A copy of that target will then be added to the performance review. The reviewer can then personalise this target for their reviewee.

Please note: When you create a whole school target, it is automatically assigned to the Appraisal Team. If the reviewer is creating a review, and no whole school targets appear on the Add Existing Targets page, it is highly likely that the particular reviewee is not in the Appraisal Team (meaning the appraisal targets don't apply to them).
To rectify this, add that person to the team. For more information on this, see the section on adding users to teams within the Setting up a team guide.
