Users with the reviewer permission in Perspective can run performance reviews for other members of staff within the school. Once someone is set as a reviewer, they have access to the main Performance Management dashboard and can see any reviewees they are responsible for. They can also assign any currently unassigned reviewees to themselves.
There are two methods of setting up reviewers within Perspective:
- The Performance Management dashboard
- The Manage Users section.
Only the headteacher, SLT or Performance Management Moderators can grant permission to run performance reviews.
The Performance Management method is the best way to assign this permission in bulk in the first instance. However, if you wish to make any changes to your reviewers after this point, you will need to do so via Settings > Manage Users.
Quick Steps
- Click Performance Mgmt > See All Reviews.
- Click Admin and select Set Reviewers.
- Tick the box next to the staff you want to set as Reviewers, then click Add Selected.
- Click Back to return to the Performance Management dashboard.
- Click Assign, select your Reviewer and click Assign Reviewees.
- Tick the box next to the staff you want to set assign to the Reviewer, then click Add Selected.
- Click Back to return to the Performance Management dashboard.

Setting Reviewers via the Performance Management Dashboard
Click Perf. Mgmt and select See All Reviews.
Click Admin and then select Set Reviewers.
Tick the box next to the staff you want to set as reviewers, then click Add Selected. You can select more than one person at a time.
All selected staff will then be granted the reviewer permission.
Setting Reviewers via the Manage Users Page
Click on Settings and select Manage Users.
Locate the staff member in your user list and click on their name. You can use the filters here to narrow your search if you have a large staff list.
Apply or remove the setting by ticking the checkbox marked Reviewer, then click Save.
Please note that once someone is set as a reviewer, they have the permissions to begin linking reviewees to themselves and running performance reviews for staff within your system.
Assigning Reviewees to Your New Reviewer
Once someone has the reviewer permission, they can link other staff to themselves, allowing them to run performance reviews for those staff members.
To assign reviewees to your review, from the Performance Management Dashboard, click Assign.
You are then prompted to select a reviewer from the dropdown.
If you can't see the name of the reviewer in the drop-down list when you click Assign, this means that person doesn't have the reviewer permission. The steps further up in this guide cover how to add this permission.
Once a reviewer is selected, a list of reviewees will appear. Place a tick in the box alongside their name and click Add Selected. They will then be linked to the reviewer you specified earlier.
If you can't see the name of the reviewee in the list, they already have a reviewer assigned. See the Reassigning Reviewees guide for information on how to reassign a staff member who already has a reviewer.
