The Self Evaluation section is your central hub for everything SEF. It brings together your evidence, staff contributions, inspection frameworks, and TILDA, your intelligent SEF assistant, all in one easy-to-manage space.
With Perspective, your SLT can collaborate seamlessly, working on their parts of the SEF simultaneously, contributing unique insights, and building a shared picture of your school’s strengths and priorities.
This means you’re not just completing paperwork, you’re creating a living, evolving document that reflects your whole team’s expertise and keeps you inspection-ready.
Note: Perspective SEF supports multiple inspection frameworks, so your SEF view may not always match the screenshots shown in this guide. Depending on the framework selected (and your organisation’s configuration), some menus, labels, and available features may appear slightly different. This guide is intended as a general overview of the core SEF functionality. If you have any questions or can’t find an option you expect to see, please contact our Support team at perspectivesupport@angelsolutions.co.uk.
Getting Started
To access the Self Evaluation area:
Click Self Evaluation > School from your main Perspective toolbar.
You’ll arrive at the dashboard, which displays all the sections that make up your SEF.
Use the Inspection Framework drop-down at the top to switch frameworks.
For detailed guidance on adding or editing SEF content, check out the How to Create Your SEF guide.
TILDA on Your Dashboard
If you already have a copy of your SEF for the Ofsted (2025) framework in a separate document, such as Microsoft Word or PDF, TILDA can automatically upload your content into the right sections, saving you time and removing the need for copy and paste.
For a more detailed step-by-step guide on this process, please refer to the Importing Your SEF with TILDA guide.
Frameworks and Flexibility
One of Perspective’s greatest strengths is its flexibility. Your school can work with multiple SEF frameworks simultaneously by selecting the available framework from the dropdown at the top of the page.
This allows you to work on the latest Ofsted framework while also revisiting older versions of your SEF for inspiration. Alternatively, in some cases, we can enable custom frameworks for you. Please contact perspectivesupport@angelsolutions.co.uk if you have a custom framework. Please note that custom frameworks are subject to suitability and are typically enabled where they benefit more than one school.
Bite-Sized Questions (BSQs)
Bite-Sized Questions (BSQs) break the SEF into smaller, easy-to-answer prompts, encouraging collaboration across your SLT. To view saved BSQ answers, tick Show Bite-Sized Questions (BSQs) at the top of the dashboard and the page will display the head teacher's BSQ responses alongside the section, giving you a really clear overview of all the detail.
Agreeing Your SEF
Agreeing the SEF is the act of publishing it. Once agreed, this is the version you may wish to share with key stakeholders such as governors or Ofsted inspectors.
From the dashboard, you can agree your entire SEF at once by clicking Agree All at the top. A summary of recent updates will then appear, and you will be asked to confirm.
Any future changes will remain in the Draft SEF until the document is agreed again. You can also agree individual sections using the Agree Grade and Text button within each Make a Judgement area.
SEF Downloads and Reports
On the right-hand side of the dashboard, you’ll find quick download options, including:
Draft Ofsted SEF (2025) Report
Agreed Ofsted SEF (2025) Report
Evidence Base Report
Evidence Files (ZIP)
These options make it easy to share, archive, or print your SEF at any stage.
You can also access:
