How do I access and contribute to the SEF?
To contribute to the SEF, your account must have the Can Make Judgements and Can Agree permissions enabled. Your headteacher or an SLT member can check and update these via the Permissions tab in your staff profile. More information here.
Once permissions are set, navigate to Self Evaluation and select the section you want to complete. You can then assign a grade and add as much detail as needed. Use the Bite-Sized Questions to support your grade and explanations. For a full walkthrough, see the How to Create Your SEF guide.
💡 TILDA can also help you write and refine these sections. Simply click TILDA: Refine above your text box to improve structure, tone, and clarity.
See: Refining Your SEF with TILDA
How do I complete my Team Review?
Team Reviews follow the same process as the main school SEF. Complete each section by adding grades and comments, then submit the Review when ready. See the Team Reviews guide for more details.
How do I find my Bite-Sized Questions?
Navigate to Self Evaluation, open the relevant section, and locate the Bite-Sized Questions below the Judgement box. For detailed guidance, see Bite-Sized Questions guide .
💡 Once completed, your BSQs can be used by TILDA to generate or refine SEF content – giving you a stronger, Ofsted-aligned foundation.
How do I see other staff's BSQ answers and incorporate them into the SEF/Review?
- Open the SEF section and click Bite-Sized Questions.
- You’ll see two tabs: My Answers and SLT Answers (or Team Answers for a Team Review). Click the latter.
- Perspective will display all team responses, including staff names and save dates.
- To use an answer, click Copy To Clipboard and paste it directly into your main SEF Judgement.
I’m the headteacher and can’t contribute to a Team Review
By default, headteachers can view Team Reviews as reports but cannot edit them. To contribute:
- You must be added to the team.
- Ensure Can Make Judgements and Can Agree permissions are enabled.
- If the team leader is unavailable, you can make yourself a deputy of the team to gain access.
Can I add links to documents instead of uploading attachments?
Yes. You can paste links (e.g., Google Docs or Dropbox) directly into the main Judgement text area instead of uploading files.
What information is shown in the Draft and Agreed reports?
- Draft SEF/Team Review: Includes all text entries and judgements, regardless of whether they have been published or agreed. This lets you review content before publishing. More info
- Agreed SEF/Team Review: Contains only agreed/published content. This is the version you can print and share with governors or key staff. Both Draft and Agreed reports can be downloaded for Team Reviews. More info
Why don’t all BSQ responses show when I print the SEF with BSQ responses?
Only the Bite-Sized Questions from the headteacher (school SEF) or Team Leader (team SEF) appear in the Agreed SEF report. To include all SLT or team responses, download the SEF Evidence Base report. More info
I’ve copied my old SEF from Word; why is the formatting inconsistent?
This happens when hidden formatting carries over from Microsoft Word.
💡 Did you know?
Instead of copying and pasting, you can upload your Word SEF directly into Perspective using TILDA: Upload & Autofill.
It automatically imports your content into the correct sections, removing formatting issues entirely.
See: Importing Your SEF with TILDA
If you still prefer to paste text manually, use Paste as plain text to clean up the formatting.
How can TILDA help with my SEF overall?
TILDA is your built-in SEF assistant that helps you:
- Upload an existing SEF (Word/PDF) and automatically populate sections
- Refine existing text for clarity, tone, and Ofsted alignment
- Generate draft SEF content from your completed BSQs
- Save time and ensure consistency across your SEF
You’ll see TILDA throughout your SEF workflow - from the Upload & Autofill banner on your dashboard to the TILDA: Refine button inside each section.
Does your Trust/Diocese use the CSI? We now have custom frameworks, which include the CSI. Contact us at perspectivesupport@angelsolutions.co.uk, and we can get this added to your account.
