Creating a Development Feedback Record
Perspective allows you to create feedback records for individual staff members or entire teams.
Please note: Feedback records can be created by any staff member in Perspective, regardless of their role or team.
You can create a new feedback record from your homepage (via the Dev Feedback tab) or the Perf Mgmt option on your main toolbar.
Select the type of feedback record you want to create (individual or team).
Individual records are assigned to a specific person within your account. You can still have multiple staff providing the feedback, but only one person set as 'Feedback for'.
Team records are assigned to a team within your account. Every staff member in that team will then see that single record when finalised. To manage and maintain your teams, navigate to Settings and click
Please note: You can upload your current Development Feedback templates to us by clicking 'Send us your templates' within the Performance Management dashboard, and we'll do our best to set them up for you.
Manage Teams.
A template is a pre-defined form that is either a Perspective default or created by a member of the SLT. For more information on creating custom templates, click here.
Choose the template, date and staff members involved, then click Add Feedback. You will then be taken inside the record.
From here onward, any changes you make to the record will automatically be saved.
Grade/Text Statements
There should be at least one grade or text statement on the record. A grade statement has a specific grade alongside it. When completing a record, staff would select the relevant grade and then add supporting comments if necessary.
When selecting a grade from the dropdown, its descriptor will be displayed. This outlines the detail of how someone would achieve the grade in question. If no descriptor is present, then the user who created the template did not add one.
Text statements come without grades. They encourage much more detailed answers and take the form of a text field.
Attaching Files
Each observation template has a Related Files section which you can use to attach supporting evidence and documentation to the record.
Click on the explore box to open your file explorer to pick a file, or if it's easier, drag and drop it onto the box. Your file will then be displayed within the Related Files section, as shown below:
Any related files will be visible to the same audience as the record.
Finalising the Record
You can finalise the record's content and any evidence attached when you are happy with it.
Finalising the record makes it visible to the relevant audience and will trigger an email to alert them that it is available for them to view.
Please see our Visibility guide for information on who can view feedback records.
To finalise a record, click Finalise on the bottom toolbar. A pop-up will appear, confirming who can see the record. Please note if your headteacher has turned off the option for SLT to view finalised development feedback records, SLT will not be able to view them.
Click Confirm to proceed. Your record will then switch from Draft to Finalised.
Viewing Feedback Records
You can view any feedback records you were a part of via the Dev Feedback tab on your Personal Dashboard.
Depending on your permissions, you can also view records for other staff via the Perf Mgmt page by clicking the See All Feedback option.
Editing Feedback Records
Feedback Records can only be edited by a person set as Feedback From.
If you are a user set as Feedback From and need to edit a record, navigate to your Dashboard by clicking the Home icon on your main Perspective toolbar.
Then click the Dev Feedback tab and change the filter to either I'm providing feedback for someone else, or I'm giving feedback to a team. When the list refreshes, click the Edit button alongside the relevant record to open it and start making changes. If you have more than 10 records here, you will need to use the page number options to navigate further.
